SC ruling expected in IHC judges case

ISLAMABAD: Barrister Akram Sheikh, counsel for a petitioner in the Islamabad High Court (IHC) judges nomination case, presented his arguments before the Supreme Court on Friday, DawnNews reported.

A five-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Arif Hussain Khilji resumed the hearing over the IHC judges appointment case, which was based on a presidential reference moved under article 186 of the constitution, invoking its advisory jurisdiction.

During the hearing advocate Akram Sheikh informed the court that Justice Anwar Kasi was recommended as the senior most judge, chief justice, adding that Justice Kasi was eligible to be member of the judicial commission.

Earlier on Thursday, the court had adjourned the hearing over the judges appointment case  instructing the counsel for the petitioner to complete his arguments on Friday after lawyer for President Asif Ali Zardari, Barrister Wasim Sajjad, completed his arguments before the court.
