KARACHI: A religious scholar was shot dead in Karachi’s Nazimabad area on Thursday whereas three others were killed in separate incidents of violence in the city, DawnNews reported.
Unknown gunmen opened fire on a vehicle near board office intersection in Nazimabad area of Karachi killing Allama Taqi Hadi Naqvi.
In another incident, the administrator of a local madressah and his son were shot dead by motorcycle-riding gunmen in Sachal area of the city. The cook of the seminary was also wounded in the attack.
Fear and panic gripped the area after the incident whereas some enraged residents of the area resorted to stone-pelting and blocked roads in the locality.
The victims were shifted to a nearby hospital.
Moreover, police men belonging to Sachal and Mobina Town police stations locked horns with each other over the jurisdiction of the incident.
Another person was gunned down near Pakwan Centre in New Karachi area of the city.
Policemen described the incident as a targeted killing.
Meanwhile, a police officer suffered gunshot wounds during a scuffle with a colleague in the Police Quarters located behind the Orangi Town police station.
Moreover, Rangers personnel conducted targeted raids in Malir, Jauhar, Square, Orangi Town and Jumma Goth area of the city arresting 10 suspects, according to a spokesperson of the para-military force.
The spokesperson further said that the arrested suspects were members of outlawed organisations and involved in the city’s gang-war.
